Adult Education

Adult Education

Beth Shalom Synagogue’s Jewish adult education classes are held by our very own Rabbi Gardner. Enrollment is open to members and non-members alike.

Subjects include:

  • Trope Class – Learn to chant Torah and Haftarah. This is one of the greatest Jewish skills one can learn.
  • Beginning Hebrew – Learn to understand the Torah and the Siddur.
  • Talmud – This class examines the meaning of the Rabbinic Hebrew and Aramaic, how the rabbis of the Talmud thought, as well as our own thoughts on each subject.
  • Intermediate Hebrew – We will return to the beginning of The First Hebrew Primer, and read all the ‘Tall Tales.’
  • History of Chassidic Judaism  – How did this movement get started, and how did it split into the various sects we see today? Read more…

Conversion

Rabbi Gardner is happy to meet with anyone who wants to know more about Judaism. Some may want to convert, some may not, others may not be sure. Those who do want to convert may end up with a regular schedule of meetings with the rabbi. These people are encouraged to attend services and adult studies at the synagogue. Read more…
