On Saturday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m., we’ll join together for a potluck dinner, and watch a provocative Israeli film, the Wedding Plan. After a brief discussion focusing on themes of the High Holy Days, we’ll move to the sanctuary for a contemplative and uplifting Selichot Service.
The Wedding Plan is a 2016 Israeli film written and directed by Rama Burshtein. The film premiered at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival in the Horizons section and won the Best Actress award in the category Israeli Feature Films at the Haifa International Film Festival 2016.
Plot summary: When her fiancé bows out on the eve of her wedding, Michal refuses to cancel the wedding arrangements. An Orthodox Jew, she insists that God will supply her a husband. As the clock ticks down.
