Beth Shalom Synagogue welcomes Rabbi Teri Appleby on July 1, 2020.
Teri Appleby found her way to Judaism when her children were young and was searching for a community to provide Jewish education to her children. Through her experiences with congregational life, she came to develop a deep love for the wisdom of Torah, ritual and the power of a community.
Since her ordination in 2007, she has had the honor of serving seven congregations – Beth Shalom, now her 8th.
Her passion for creating a kehillat kedushah, a holy community, kehillat talmudim, a community of learners, and kehillat hesed, a caring community has defined her role as a Rabbi. She seeks to support all congregants on their Jewish journey in the role of teacher, a spiritual, moral and ethical guide and a pastoral caregiver.
Rabbi Appleby’s husband, Jonathan Leo, is a lawyer who often serves as a cantorial soloist.
