Shabbat of Hope & Solidarity in the Face of Flood

Join us Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, as we come back together strong in hope and solidarity.

We will start the evening with a potluck Shabbat at 5 p.m. Please come as you are, even if you have worked on your home or others’ homes all day. Come even if you can’t contribute. Come if you can contribute (contact the office if you can give).

We hope to see you for a special Shabbat service this Friday at 7 p.m. as we raise our voice in both praise and the healing power of prayer. Rabbi Natan will share the bima with Nick May, as Nick spends his Shabbat service with BSS enriching the service with music. Services will be followed by a festive oneg hosted by the Posners in honor of the valiant effort of so many people in our community this week and all the work ahead of us.

As many of you know, we have started a fund to offer flood relief to synagogue members, Rayner Center employees, and the larger community. Since it happened on the somber holiday of Tisha b’av, we have named it the Tisha b’Av flood relief fund. As the waters receded, and the houses are cleaned, much of the real work begins. With the help of Nechama: Jewish Disaster Relief and other community organizations, we want Beth Shalom at the front of this effort to provide much-needed support. Please consider supporting the fund.
