Beth Shalom’s Sisterhood is a driving force behind the social scene at the synagogue. Sisterhood organizes the schedule for Onegs, which are hosted by member families after each Kabbalat Shabbat service. All sisterhood members come together to host the Oneg on Erev Rosh Hashanah, the Yom Kippur break fast and potluck dinners for Sukkot and at other times throughout the year.

Sisterhood also oversees our synagogue library. They cook for our congregational second night seder and spend most of the year preparing for or recovering from our spring Corned Beef Sandwich Sale. This project is lots of fun, involves the entire congregation and produces significant revenue for the synagogue.

Make a difference with your donations

HereTodayGoneTomorrowYou can support Sisterhood year round by donating your gently used and no longer wanted items to HERE TODAY GONE TOMORROW, a local non-profit organization in Baton Rouge that partners with local charities to give back to the community.

How does it work? Bring your items to Here Today, Gone Tomorrow at 10240 Burbank Dr. (Burbank Dr. at Bluebonnet Blvd.). Mark your bags or larger individual items with code 699 when you drop them off and Sisterhood receives half of the proceeds when the item is sold.

If you are donating CLOTHES, JEWELRY, PURSES or BELTS, please take them to the door marked “Clothing Drop Off. Please Come In” on the left side of the complex. One of HTGT’s friendly staff members will be happy to help you.

If you are donating NON-CLOTHING ITEMS, please walk into the HTGT warehouse door and let the workers know that you have a donation to unload from your vehicle.

Or contact HTGT at 225-769-2259 to schedule a PICK-UP FOR LARGE ITEMS like furniture and appliances.
